Astoria's final encore before Crossrail tonight

London's iconic Astoria theatre will host its final gig tonight before demolition begins to make way for the new Tottenham Court Road station and Crossrail.

The event is curated by Sam Duckworth, who records under the moniker 'Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly', and has dubbed the evening the 'Demolition Ball'.

Demolition will begin later this month before works to build the new Tottenham Court Road station.

The works are specified in the Crossrail Bill, which received Royal Assent last year. Initial works will rebuild the Tube station only, with the new Crossrail station constructed later, when the tunnels are driven under central London.

The FLARE consortium of Fluor, Arup and EC Harris were this week knocked-off the Deliver Partner shortlist.

For those wanting to join the festivities at the Astoria this evening, the line-up is as follows:

Conrad and Jason from …And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Paul Draper from Mansun
Mark Greaney from JJ72
Drew McConnell
The Automatic
My Vitriol
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly
Frank Turner
The King Blues
VV Brown
