Asian Development Bank to lend $70M to power project

The Asian Development Bank is lending $70M to a 1,070MW hydroelectric power project on the Nam Theun tributary of the Mekong river in Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Nam Theun 2 Power Company, a consortium of Electricite de France, the Lao government, Electricity Generating Public Company of Thailand and the ItalianThai Development Public Company, will construct and operate the plant.
