'The viaduct, which will carry the CTRL eastwards out of Ashford and over the River Stour and the Canterbury line, is now taking shape. Work continues on the cut and cover box, which will carry the new high speed line and connecting chords under the existing Ashford to Maidstone line and into Ashford station, ' reports RLE contract manager for contract 430 Alasdair Cathcart. Over 73,000m 3of concrete has been poured for the structures and 93,000m 3used for the piles. 'We are forecasting 200,000m 3ofconcrete poured by Christmas, ' says Cathcart.
