Asbestos fears

Events Cicils 2004

Chief concern for many at the show will be the forthcoming Asbestos at Work Act, which kicks in on 21 May.

Many firms are struggling to get cover for the £80bn of predicted construction work in this field. Surveyors are leading the battle for cover, as they will be first in to assess non-domestic properties. But next in line will be designers who must have solid cover in view of hardening CDM requirements. Howden has experience in this area and will be advising at Civils 2004 what firms can do to find some cover for the imminent rush of work.
