Arup tall buildings boss David Scott joins Laing O'Rourke

Arup’s US tall buildings boss David Scott is to join Laing O’Rourke as structural engineering leader.

Scott is a world renowned expert in structural engineering. Following the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks he was extensively involved in the industry review of design standards and procedures for tall buildings in extreme events. He has authored papers on Fire Induced Progressive Collapse, and was a reviewer of the US Government’s (GSA) design requirements to mitigate progressive collapse. He also worked extensively with Daniel Libeskind on the World Trade Center masterplan and his design for Freedom Tower.

He will join Laing O’Rourke as a lead director in April, responsible for the structural engineering team in the development and delivery of innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. He will be working closely alongside the firm’s chief engineering adviser Professor Robert Mair.
