Armitt to address young designers conference

Olympic Delivery Authority chairman Sir John Armitt is to give the keynote address at this year’s annual IStructE/IABSE organised young designers conference to be held this Thursday at UCL in London.

Place are still available at conference which will this year address and discuss the critical issues surrounding precisely how the future of structural design will look and develop over the next few years in the face of economic, environmental and social challenges.

Armitt will be joined by a host of other influential speakers from the world of structural engineering including: Flint and Neil ditrector Ian Firth, independent structural engineer Jane Wernick, past president of IStructE and Imperial College head of engineering David Nethercot, leading bridge architect Marin Knights and Arup design directors Dervilla Mitchell and Tristram Carfrae.

The conference starts at 9am on Thursday 13 September and tickets for the full day are just £40 (£20 for students). The conference concludes with a gala dinner at the Bloomsbury Hotel in the evening.
