Armitt joins Transport for London board

Olympic Delivery Authority chairman Sir John Armitt is among four new Transport for London (TfL) directors, an official announcement said yesterday.

London mayor Boris Johnson has appointed Armitt to bring more infrastructure experience to the board. His other new appointments are deputy mayor and London Assembly member for Ealing and Hillingdon, Richard Barnes, Sainsburys’ general merchandise managing director Roger Burnley and Bloomberg new energy finance chief executive Michael Liebreich.

The four new members bring knowledge from infrastructure, environment, retail, investment, transport and construction industries.

“As we get back to the essential job of upgrading London’s transport network, these new appointments bring a wealth of experience to the TfL Board,” said Johnson. “They will oversee delivery of the investment necessary to power London and the UK’s economic development and growth, delivering jobs and access to health, education and leisure across the capital.”

Johnson will continue to chair the TfL board.
