Area changes for RLOs coverage

REGIONAL LIAISON officers have been given new areas of responsibility by the ICE.

The moves are the result of the appointment of the executive secretary for Wales David Crompton, who has taken over the RLO role in Wales and also the early retirement through ill-health of former Northern Counties, Yorkshire and Humberside RLO Tony Benson.

ICE communications director Alan Smith said: 'We are sorry to lose the services of Tony Benson and, on behalf of the ICE and particularly our members in the Northern Counties and Yorkshire, thank him for all his help and guidance in the past. The subsequent realignment of geographical responsibilities for some of the RLOs ensures our continued representation across the UK.'

The new areas of responsibility are as follows:

David Crompton will take over RLO duties for South Wales and Hereford & Worcester and, alongside his executive secretary duties, cover North Wales .

David Tattersall, previously the South Wales and Midlands RLO, will cover all the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Lincolnshire.

Mac Steels, North West RLO, will have additional responsibility for Cumbria and Staffordshire, while handing over North Wales to David Crompton.

Mike Gregson, East Anglia and Northern Home Counties & North East London RLO will take on additional responsibility for Northamptonshire.

Chris Rickards, RLO for Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and West London, will have additional responsibility for Warwickshire.

Gareth Jones, RLO for the South, South East England and South London, will have additional responsibility for some of Chris Rickards' contacts in overlap areas.

Mike Mann, former RLO for the Midlands, re-joins the ICE to have interim, part-time responsibility for Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Murray Grant will continue to cover the South and South West of England.

Robert Hollingdale remains in his post as RLO for Scotland and Northern Ireland until his retirement in 2001.
