Candidates for election to ICE Council in 2000 are required now. Eight Council members retire in November and a minimum of four Fellows, one Member, and one Associate Member are needed to take their place. The other two vacancies will be filled by Fellows or Members. Candidates need five sponsors and must show their willingness to stand. No member may support more than one nomination. Changes to By-law 61 mean Associate Members who are incorporated engineers can now vote for territorial members.

Territorial Members representing the Local Associations in South Western, Glasgow and West of Scotland, East Anglia, Northern Ireland, and North Western will also be retiring and there will be separate ballots to elect their successors.

Terms run for three years from November 2000. The Council holds six meetings a year, and the obligations of Council membership also include appointments to various committees, engineering boards, and panels. Nominations must be in by 12 November. For information and a nomination form call (0171) 665 2077 or email
