ANCHOR POINT: Terminal building foundations were designed for essentially three different types of ground - rock, superficial deposits and reclamation. Foundation types were equally wide ranging, from pads and strip footings to 50m deep bored piles. Here tension anchors are installed on pad footings at the base of the terminal building to overcome uplift problem during intense rain in the blast shattered rock of Chek Lap Kok.
