Engineering firm Amey has secured a significant milestone for its business in Qatar.
Amey’s Qatar-based consulting team has completed Grade A Civil Engineering Registration, enabling the company to tender for projects that would not usually be open to international firms.
Completing the registration took over a year and involved establishing a permanent business in the Middle Eastern country, undertaking written exams and submitting a case to the Engineering Committee at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
“Obtaining Engineering Registration has been one of the more significant challenges during my four years working for Amey in Qatar,” said Amey’s international business development manager Steven Yule. “Through the professional commitment and support of our dedicated engineers, and through the wider support of our colleagues in the UK, we have achieved a major milestone for Amey’s committed presence in Qatar.”
The company has had a presence in the country since 2012, providing a range of services to the State of Qatar’s highways authority Ashghal, as well as providing asset management advisory services for state-owned utilities provider Kahramaa.
