Amey buys transport planner Transportation Planning International

Amey has bought transportation planning and traffic engineering consultancy Transportation Planning International (TPI).

Based in Birmingham, TPI has local offices in Cork, Dublin, London, Edinburgh and Leeds.

It has completed more than 1,000 projects for clients in the private, public and voluntary sectors in the UK, Ireland, India, New Zealand, and Eastern Europe.

Amey said it bought the firm to optimise delivery of its strategic transport schemes across the UK.

It will also secure transport consultancy contracts across the UK for key clients in central and local government as well as for the private sector.

TPi’s staff will join Amey’s consultancy business, taking staff in the division to 2,300.

The purchase is Amey’s third acquisition within a year, following the purchase of WYG’s rail division and waste management business Donarbon.
