Amec buys Australian cost consultant

Project management firm Amec has bought cost consultant Currie & Brown’s Australia arm for £20M in cash.

Currie & Brown is one of the world’s largest cost consultants with over 1,500 personnel in over 50 countries.

In Australia, Currie & Brown has offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney with associated offices located in Darwin and New Zealand.

“Acquiring Currie & Brown (Australia) is another important step in our strategy of providing independent business consultancy services worldwide and will further strengthen our capability to our customers in Australia and internationally,” said Amec executive director Neil Bruce.

Global expansion

Currie & Brown said the deal freed up funds for expansion in markets including India and the US.

“This deal is an important one for the Group, principally because it provides funds for our continued expansion in key markets,” said group chief executive Euan McEwan.
