Singapore's new Expo station on the Changi Airport Mass Rapid Transport extension opened last week.

Featuring two dramatic Arupdesigned roof structures, the station is designed to handle up to 17,000 passengers a day.

Platforms are elevated above a ground level concourse and protected by a 200m long titanium-clad torus roof made up of a diagrid of steel members supported on only two Vshaped columns. Overlapping one end is a 38m diameter stainless steel disc roof which covers the ticket hall.

Architect for the project was Foster & Partners in association with Singapore's Public Works Authority and Land Transport Authority. The Land Transport Authority was also responsible for the civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.
