Airport plansup in the air

You reported (NCE 16 March) that the European Airport Consortium had proposed a £20bn airport on the Welsh side of the Severn Estuary.

My company has no connection with this project which I suspect is valued at £2bn. We have, however, been instrumental in promoting UK ONE, a multi- modal transportation interchange on the eastern side of the estuary, which includes a new international airport.

R H Gillett (M), chairman, European Airports Consortium, Albion House, Broad Street, Bristol, BS1 2HL
