Charcon Specialist Products, part of Aggregate Industries UK, has launched Rail-Pod™, a modular platform solution which is constructed off site and delivered and installed by rail or road.
Rail-Pod™ requires significantly less installation time and track possessions due to optimised design and additional features such as integrated drainage and platform furniture fixings, delivering minimal disruption to train services. The off site construction of the platform also reduces project costs and health and safety risks.
Launched in response to increased demand for new and extended railway platforms, Rail-Pod™ can be used for extensions to existing platforms, new platform builds and temporary platforms, with platform sections built and assembled off site with full client inspection available ahead of delivery.
Entire platform sections can be lifted into place with the use of a crane together with copers, tactiles and cable trays if required.
With a design life in excess of 60 years, Rail-Pod™ is designed, manufactured and tested to ensure consistent high performance in terms of quality, strength, durability and dimensional accuracy.
Available in a number of standard configurations to allow for a range of locations and installation options, the fully flexible design can be modified to cater for a wide range of platform sizes.
Designs can be customised to suit any shape and size of platform including curved or sloping sections. Integrated fixings, services and drainage reduce the time required to drill fix and assemble once on site.
A range of transport options are available including a fully managed road freight or rail service, utilizing Aggregate Industries owned railheads.
Charcon Specialist Products is an approved supplier to the UK rail industry, London Underground and Network Rail.
