Agency flood report imminent

THE ENVIRONMENT Agency has completed the final progress report for its Action Plan for Flood Forecasting, Warning and Response.

The report, which was recommended by the Bye Report following the disastrous floods in 1998, was issued to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in May. It is expected within the next two weeks.

An Agency spokeswoman said it had carried out a complete review of how it dealt with both flood prevention and flood warning since the 1998 floods.

As part of the plan, the Agency has undertaken a nationwide recruitment drive to fill vacancies in its flood defence division.
