African expansion for Fugro

Fugro has announced that it has acquired the Cameroon-based Geofor Group to strengthen its presence in the central Africa region.

Fugro has said that the buyout of Geofor and the recent acquisition of Earth Resources in South Africa puts it in a leading position in Africa.

Geofor has offices in Libreville in Gabon, Douala in Cameroon, Pointe Noire in Republic of Congo, and São Tomé City in São Tomé, and it has significant working experience in Niger, Chad and Equatorial Guinea. The onshore and near-shore geotechnical company was established in 1989 and offers expertise in the fields of hydraulics, geotechnics, mining research and special foundations, among others.

Geofor carries out field testing, geophysics, seismic, bathymetry, logging, coring and reverse circulation for various clients, including major oil and gas companies and key mining clients.
