Aecom wins Canadian light rail contract

Consultant Aecom has won a $35M (£21.6M) contract to provide preliminary engineering for the Edmonton light rail system expansion in Canada.

The City of Edmonton, Canada, has awarded the contract for its Southeast to West light rail transit (LRT) expansion.

Under the contract, the company will provide preliminary engineering design services for the Southeast LRT line from downtown Edmonton to Mill Woods and the West LRT line from Lewis Estates to downtown Edmonton.

The preliminary design is due for completion by September 2013.
