Aecom reveals outcome of senior level recruitment splurge

US giant Aecom has announced a string of key appointments in its European built environment and infrastructure business following a recruitment push.

In infrastructure, Richard Robinson joins from Heathrow Express to become managing director of Aecom’s transportation business in Europe. Robinson’s appointment follows the appointment of new global transit and rail director Keith Hampson, who previously worked for Halcrow and Balfour Beatty. Alan Crawford has taken up the role of regional director for transportation for the Midlands, having joined from URS.

“Building on our recent appointments of industry thought leaders such as David Glover and J Parrish, who joined from Arup, we are increasingly being recognised for the breadth and quality of our offer to the built environment,” said Aecom Europe chief executive Steve Morriss.

In environment, flood management expert Shirel Stedman has joined the firm from Halcrow and Tom Rowe from Mouchel. Their appointments build on the recent addition of design & build operations director Mark Studholme from MWH. Andy Wilson has joined as director of waste management from Golder Associates.

Acoustics expert Sébastien Jouan joins from Arup, architect Ian Brebner from Austin-Smith:Lord and new director of fire engineering Simon Lay from WSP. Business development specialists Mike Staples and John Newell have joined from Rider Levett Bucknall and Atkins.

There are also a number of appointments to strengthen the business in European markets. Axel Praus has become country manager for Germany, Neslihan Aybar country manager for Turkey.and Jarek Karpiejuk country manager for Poland. Also in Poland Rafal Szwedowski will lead Aecom’s in-country transportation team.

The key managerial appointments are in addition to a recent intake of almost 250 graduates and trainees.
