Advertisement misleading

News

The Advertising Standards Authority this week upheld a second complaint by the British Constructional Steelwork Association over an advertisement in the British Association of Reinforcement's (BAR) 'You decide' campaign.

The ad showed a globe with a dotted line between the UK and South America. It stated: 'Reinforcement:manufactured sustainably from 100% recycled scrap metal that is locally sourced.

Or, Steel sections: unsustainably manufactured from natural resources imported from thousands of miles away?' ASA said the ad was misleading because a large proportion of reinforcing steel is manufactured outside the UK from raw materials.
