Access delays airport

Hong Kong's new Chek Lap Kok airport will open in July, three months late. Hong Kong press reports claim the delay comes not from completion of the airport but because the 34km Mass Transit Railway will not open until June. A spokesman for the Airport Authority, which is responsible for construction of the airport, said: 'Technically we could open the airport without the railway, but it would not be worth reorganising transport links for a few months.'
