Do we hear many people demanding that there should be fewer police, as opposed to speed cameras, on our roads- I think not. Even if we hate them, speed cameras only operate within the legal framework that our elected representatives have created.
If drivers feel a speed limit is unreasonable, they should be arguing to change the law, not challenging the means of enforcing it.
I have heard it said that police forces would welcome a motorway limit of 80mph, as many more people might then actually obey it. If so, we should hold a reasoned debate on the subject and not pretend speeding is not really breaking the law.
