£4bn regeneration of Stratford to start

Work on the £4bn regeneration of Stratford in east London is to start six months early following successful construction of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link through the area. London & Continental Railways will release 18ha of the 80ha Stratford site in mid 2006.

This will allow an early start for enabling works for phase one of Stratford City. Developers Stanhope, Multiplex and the Westfield Group will submit a planning application to Newham Council in late 2005. The development partners have also announced that they have agreed terms with the London Development Agency to build the Olympic Village and the Olympic International Zone.
