46 projects out of 180 make BCI Awards shortlist

The shortlist of 46 UK and international projects selected by the judges from over 180 entries in the 2010 British Construction Industry Awards, has been announced.

The awards are the most coveted and rigorously judged in the construction world.

The BCI Awards, established 23 years ago, have also been host to the Prime Minister’s Better Public Building Award since since its inception in 2001. The shortlist for the Prime Minister’s Award, sponsored by CABE, the Office of Government Commerce and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills will be announced next week.

Schemes are shortlisted into one of the project categories depending on their size and type.

In addition, all UK shortlisted schemes are assessed by the judges on their visits for the special BCIA categories irrespective of their size. These are the Conservation Award sponsored by Hyder Consulting; the Local Authority Award; the Environmental Award sponsored by Atkins; the Regeneration Award; the Best Practice Award sponsored by Hall Fuels; and the Judges’ Special Award sponsored by Mott MacDonald, for which UK and International projects are eligible.
