Over the next 40 years, 38 countries will have a total of $55bn of debt written off.
Of these, 18 countries which have demonstrated good governance will receive immediate 100% debt relief These are: Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
Nine more countries will qualify for debt relief over the next 18 months. The remaining 11 countries are war zones and will only qualify for debt relief when conflict ends.
