'2 week delay' for Network Rail's Crossrail programme partner

The decision on Network Rail’s Crossrail Programme Partner has been delayed by ‘From a week up to a fortnight’, according to a Network Rail spokesman today.

The job to manage the overground sections of the £16bn Crossrail programme is hotly contested, between:

  • Mace,
  • Bovis Lend Lease,
  • Bechtel,
  • Jacobs
  • Atkins/Balfour Beatty joint venture

The job is likely to extend beyond the basic Crossrail work, and extend electrification down the Great Western Line and have input in the refurbishment of Reading station.

Insiders say the eventual value of the contract is likely to exceed £100M.
