17.15 Medway Bridge, south bank

Construction activity on the south bank of the Medway was confined to setting up works and vandal-proofing of HGB Nuttall's contract for remedial work on the motorway bridge.

It was late afternoon and no one from the Eurolink joint venture which has the Medway viaduct contract as well as the neighbouring North Downs Tunnel had shown up. But a helpful Nuttall man informed NCE: 'There was a load of people over the other side there earlier - looked like senior guys. You know they weren't chippies because they came in taxis.'
