15.45 Blue Bell Hill, Buckmore Park

Lots of construction action was under way on the north side of Blue Bell Hill at Buckmore Park Scout

Camp and kart track. Contractor Gallagher is carving an access road through the woods down to the north portal of Eurolink's CTRL tunnel. The road will bypass the camp giving direct access to the kart track and an extension of its car park being built to replace the area that will be lost to the widening of the M2 motorway.

Buckmore's warden knew about the huge rail tunnel soon to be burrowed under the Scout camp but the earthmoving contractor's banksman was less forthcoming. Questioned about CTRL his only response was: 'Tunnel? New to me!'
