Major piling equipment investment at Keltbray

  • Comment

Keltbray Piling has invested a combined total of £2.5M in a new generation of rigs.

The equipment comprises a Soilmec SR-30 and two Soilmec SR-75s, which are the first of their kind in Europe. The SR-75s are designed for large diameter pilingand the structural components have been redesigned to reduce weight.

Keltbray is also trialling a wide-angle camera system on the new rigs, to increase safety on site, which provides 360 degrees in-cab vision for the rig operators.

Keltbray piling operations director Lee Cain said: “These multi-discipline rigs enable the installation of CFA and rotary bored piles. The SR-75 weighs in at 74t and allows us to drill bigger and deeper than we have before; 1200mm diameter piles to depths of 28m in CFA mode, and 2400mm diameter piles to depths of 50m in rotary bored mode. This model rig performs very well and is already exceeding our expectations.”

The new SR-75 rigs are currently in use at Phase 2 of the B Sky B Osterley Campus development.
